The Walking and Climbing Company recently featured in an article in the Daily Mail newspaper about trekking in the Himalayas. Kalsang Sherpa, together with his Uncle Pertemba took a college group trekking in the Annapurna region. This was a very special trip as Pertemba Sherpa has climbed Everest several times and although now retired is still known and respected as one of the best climbers and expedition leaders ever. Kalsang Sherpa was trained and mentored by his uncle and worked for many years as a Climbing Sherpa on Everest.
Everest Monasteries Trek
We recently visited the Everest region with some clients to do a wonderful trek visiting monasteries. There were numerous monasteries along the route and time was spent meditating, observing the lifestyle of the monks and interacting with these gentle humble people. The trek was a very peaceful experience in warm sunny weather at a relaxed pace.
This is Lawudo monastery, one of the many monasteries visited. Deep in the Himalayas this was an opportunity to visit the stunning Everest region and see some of the most famous mountains in the area including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Ama Dablam.
