What makes Mt. Kailash so mystical?

Facts about Tibet's most sacred mountain.

Spiritual, mystical and enlightening. These are all words that can describe the wonder of Mt. Kailash, which resides in Western Tibet. Kailash holds deep significance with Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and the Tibetan religion of Bon, each having their own beliefs linked to this sacred mountain.

Religious significance is not the only part of Mt. Kailash that make it so unique, many people believe you witness the centre of the universe. Four rivers of the Indian sub continent flow from within its border, Indus to the north, Brahmaputra to the east, Karnali to the south and Sutlej to the west. To great lakes also reside in close proximity to the mountain, Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal.

Due to the importance of Mt. Kailash for many religions, it is forbidden to climb. But what you can experience is the sacred circuit around the mountain. "The Kora" is a pilgrimage undertaken in search of enlightenment.

You do not have to be religious to see why people deem Mt. Kailash so mystical. The Kora allows you to witness the beautiful scenery of Tibet surround the mountain, along with seeing the ritualistic culture of people on their own pilgrimage.
