Coronavirus (Covid-19) update
Here at The Walking and Climbing Company we continue to monitor the situation regarding Covid-19. The health and safety of our clients and staff is our priority and all decisions regarding future trips are based on Government advice and the operational situation.
Nepal is open to visitors with mandatory hotel quarantine rules on arrival. Bhutan and Tibet are not. We consider it to be a great risk to the local people to travel through the villages until a greater proportion of the population have had the opportunity to be vaccinated.
At the moment we are not planning any trips for 2021. We are waiting until the The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) approve that UK residents can travel safely, then will review the situation. Non UK clients may wish to travel however we advise looking into your country’s advice on travel first.
Please visit the FCO website for the latest travel information: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/foreign-commonwealth-office.
We have been asked a few times about how the local mountain staff are managing as they are dependent on work to feed their families and receive no government support. We are supporting the staff who work with us and if you would like to contribute to this charitable project then please click here for details.
Please continue to contact us directly by email (sbaer@walkingandclimbing.co.uk) or telephone (+44 (0) 771 8755 031) during office hours with any questions you have at this time.
With best wishes to you and your families,
Kalsang and Susie Sherpa-Baer
