The sample itinerary below gives an idea of the terrain and what to expect trekking in Nepal. The sample route below, follows mountain trails established by the local people and maps will be provided that show these trails and the whole area. The accommodation is camping on the trek, hotel and lodges in the towns to ensure all aspects of the DofE Award can be covered.

Day: 1 Depart home country

Day 2: Arrive Kathmandu, Nepal

You will be met at the airport then drive for about 30 minutes to the hotel. The rest of the day can then be spent relaxing and seeing the sights of Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu

As part of today we will check everyone has the necessary kit for the trek ahead. There is time to hire/buy anything needed from the numerous equipment shops within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. There will also be time to sight see and these visits are included.

Day 4: Pokhara

Half day drive to Pokhara the second capital of Nepal. The drive will show you some wonderful scenery as you travel through Nepal. Pokhara itself is very pretty, situated beside a huge lake with cafes restaurants and a number of new lodges.

Day 5: Drive to Phedi, trek to Dhampus (1650m)

After a short drive out of Pokhara the trek begins from Phedi and will reach Dhampus village after a few hours of walking. The pace will be slow to allow for acclimatisation and there will be a stop for lunch along the way. From Dhampus there are wonderful views of the Annapurna mountains including Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri.

Day 6: Landruk (1565m)

Trekking up towards Landruk you will trek through rhododendron and oak forest and there are excellent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiun Chuli on the way. The Gurung cast of people live in this area and the villages here including Landruk are a great example of this cast and culture. The route over looks the beautiful Modi Khola River.

Day 7: Chhomrung (2170m)

Continuing along the route gradually gaining height. The scenery starts to become more and more impressive as you get further into the mountains and from Chhomrong there are impressive views of Annapurna South.

Day 8: Chhule (2180m)

Today the route reaches the village of Chhule. There are some wonderful views especially as the sun comes up over Machhapuchare, Gangaapurna and the Annapurnas

Day 9: Syauli Bazar (1170m)

Trekking firstly up to Tadapani (2590m), before descending to Syauli Bazar the route passes Ghandruk village before reaching your camp for the night.

Day 10: Trek to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara

This is the final stretch of the trek down to the village of Nayapul to meet the bus and then take a short drive into Pokhara. There is then time to relax, shower and go out for a celebratory meal.

Day 11: Pokhara

The cafes and restaurants in Pokhara are a lovely way to spend time relaxing after your trek. There are various visits that will be arranged, some suggestions are listed below.

Day 12: Kathmandu

Today you will travel back to the city of Kathmandu. Arriving back into the midst of a bustling city may feel a little strange after the peace and slower pace of the rural mountains of Nepal. There will be a day of visits as well as time to pack and prepare for the journey home tomorrow.

Day 13: Depart Kathmandu

We will take you to the airport in good time to catch your return flight home.
