Additional Information

On arrival in Kathmandu we allow time for relaxation following your inbound flight. The fascinating city of Kathmandu is a great place to visit and there is plenty of scope for sightseeing.

A short flight then takes you in to the village of Lukla, with breathtaking views of the mountains, and from here the trek begins. After a couple of days you will reach Namche Bazaar, a busy village and home of the famous Climbing Sherpas of Nepal, and spend further time acclimatising. The trek moves on over several days, taking in beautiful mountain scenery and mountain villages along the way, to Gokyo where there are a series of holy lakes. The tranquillity of the place is wonderful and the views, particularly at sunset, are quite superb. To see the fifth lake at Henjo/Renjo La (5,417 metres) is a fairly tough walk. However, the views when you get there make it very well worth the effort. Here the famous mountains of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen. The trek then continues on to Gokyo Ri and on to Kalapathar (5600 metres). This is the place to view Everest, its Base Camp and the Khumbu ice fall. This is the highest point on the trek and for most people, an experience of a lifetime just to see this stunning scenery.

It is possible to climb Pokalden Peak (5,806 metres) in conjunction with this trek if desired. This is a trekking peak and therefore suitable for less experienced climbers. However, a good level of fitness is essential. Further details will be discussed with anyone interested in this option.
