Mera and Island Peak

Mera and Island Peak

£300.00

This trip begins with a short flight to Lukla in the mountains, after you've had the chance to spend a day sightseeing in the fascinating city of Kathmandu and purchase any last minute equipment.

Your trek to the first peak (Mera Peak) takes around six days, allowing time for essential acclimatisation in preparation for the climb. Mera Peak (6,476 metres) is the highest trekking peak in Nepal and is undoubtedly a demanding climb because of the altitude, combined with the level of fitness required to reach the summit. Its attraction for many is the fact that it can be climbed with little technical mountaineering experience and is relatively uncomplicated.

Having climbed Mera and now well acclimatised, the group will be well prepared to attempt their second summit, Island Peak (6,189 metres). This is a popular trekking peak that involves some climbing using crampons and ice axe and is an exciting and stimulating climb. The views from the summit on a clear day are outstanding and being in the heart of the Everest region you'll see numerous 8,000 metre peaks around you.
