This is an extended version of the 10 Day Drukpath Trek, which allows some extra days in the Gangtey valley after your trek. This trip to Bhutan is packed with picturesque trekking locations and visits to historic monasteries, museums and landmarks. You will start the trek close to the National Museum in Paro, and end at the Phajoding Monastery near Thimphu. The trip includes visits to the Traditional Medicine Institute, as well as the Takin Preserve Centre, the national animal of Bhutan. The accommodation is a mix of camping and hotel stays.

Day 1: Home country – Delhi/Kathmandu
Day 2: Delhi/Kathmandu – Paro (2280m)
You will be met at the airport by your guide and driven to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Paro excursion to Taktsang Monastery
After a short drive to Satsam Chorten you will trek to the Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, The trail climbing through beautiful pine forest. The monastery clings to the edge of a 900m sheer rock cliff, which you will see after light refreshments. Travel back to Paro to visit the ancient watchtower Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, followed by the Rimpung Paro Dzong. Dinner and overnight hotel stay.
Day 4: Start of trek, Paro – Jele Dzong (3560m)
Short trek from the National Museum to the camp near the Jele Dzong, where if the weather is clear you can see stunning views of the Paro valley and snow-capped mountains. Camp.
Day 5: Jele Dzong - Jangchulakha (3770m)
Start with a short climb then trek through a thick alpine forest of rhododendron, gradually climbing until you reach the camp.
Day 6: Jangchulakha - Jimilangtso (3870m)
The trail follows a ridge with beautiful views of the mountains and valleys on clear days. The camp is located close to Lake Jimilangtso, well known for giant sized trout.
Day 7: Jimilangtso - Simkota (4110m)
Follow the trail through dwarf rhododendron trees past the lake of Janetso. Overnight camp.
Day 8: Simkota - Phajoding - Thimphu
Slowly descend down to Phajoding Monastery, where you can see Thimphu at the valley floor. After lunch you'll drive to the Traditional Medicine Institute, followed by the Takin (national animal of Bhutan) Preserve Centre, Sangay Gang View Point and finally the Largest Statue of Buddha. Overnight hotel stay.
Day 9: Thimphu Sightseeing
A chance to explore Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Start the day with visits to the National Memorial Chorten and the Dupthop Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in the country. After lunch you'll visit many more places of interest, including the Tashichho Dzong and the Handicrafts Emporium. Hotel stay.
Day 10: Thimphu - Punakha Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass
You will visit the Punakha Dzong and Chime Lhakhang, also known as "The Temple of Fertility". Overnight hotel stay.
Day 11: Punakha - Gangtey (3120m)
After breakfast you will drive to the beautiful valley of Gangtey, En-route you will sightsee in the valley of Wangdiphodrang and visit the Wangdiphodrang Dzong, situated at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Tang Chu rivers. Upon arrival in Gangtey you will visit the Gangtey Gompa Monastery from outside, followed by exploring the Phobjikha valley famous for the black necked cranes during winter. Overnight hotel stay.
Day 12: Gangtey Sightseeing
Today you will take part in a nature trail hike, visit the Crane Information Centre and have free time to walk in the valley. Overnight hotel stay.
Day 13: Gangtey - Paro
Early morning drive to Paro for a free evening in the Paro market. Overnight hotel stay.
Day 14: Paro Airport
Drive to Paro Airport for your farewell.
Day 15: Fly to home country
