This Trek route is a very popular, passing through Jangothang, the base of Mt. Jumolhari and yak herder's camps. There will be opportunities to visit local landmarks, learn their culture and experience landscapes and wildlife up close. The accommodation is a mix of camping and hotel stays.

Day 1: Home country – Delhi

Day 2: Arrive in Paro (2280m)

You will be met at the airport by your guide and driven to the hotel.

Day 3: Paro excursion to Taktsang Monastery – Shana (2800m)

Starting at Satsam Chorten, the walk will take you through pine forest to view Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, which clings to the edge of a 900m sheer rock cliff. You will then drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1647 by the Great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, father and unifier of medieval Bhutan. Explore the ramparts and, on a clear day, have an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7314m). Drive to and camp at Shana.

Day 4: Start of trek, Shana – Thangthangka (3610m)

You and the trail will follow the river through a forested area. Enroute, you will pass a junction where another path leads north over the Tremo La to Tibet. Camp.

Day 5: Thangthangka – Jangothang (4080m)

The trail will leave the forest line and climb into a beautiful valley which passes Tegethang, the winter home of yak herdsmen. Lunch will be served in one of these huts. You will arrive at Jhomolhari camp (4115m) with a view of overlooking mountains and ruins of an old fortress. Camp.

Day 6: Rest day at Jangothang

Day hike options are –

Hike to Jumolhari Glacier (4 ½ hours there and back). Hike to Jichu Drake Glacier (3 hours there and back). Walk up the mountain between Jumolhari and Jichu Drake, 5200m. (8 hours there and back).

Day 7: Jangothang – Bonte La pass (4900m) – Dhumzo (Soi Yaktsa) (3800m)

Today you will see a view of Jhomolhari, Jitchu Drake and the valley to Jhomolhari camp. The valley is an impressive site with rock cliffs, waterfalls and snow-covered peaks. You will come across yak herder's tents, Tsho Phu lakes and a flock of Himalayan blue Sheep. After passing Bonte La, the trail will drop through a steep narrow gully towards Dhumjo. Camp.

Day 8: Dhumzo (Soi Yaktsa) – Tagalun Pass (4550m) – Thombushong (4100m)

You will climb from the camp until you reach a ridge where you walk into a valley. There will be a steep climb to the pass. Here, you can see the campsite at Thombushong. If you are trekking during May and June, you can see Takins, the national animal. This place is the Migratory route of the Takins. Camp.

Day 9: Thombushong – Thombula pass (4300m) – Zankepang (2600m)

You will start your climb to Thombula and walk on the ridge. You will see several mountain peaks from here, the closest being Jo Drake (5980m). The path descends steeply to the army camp.

Day 10: Zankepang – Drugyel Dzong (2580m), end of trek – Thimphu (2320m)

Here you will see off your trekking staff and horsemen and drive to Thimphu. There is time for exploring the town before a hotel stay.

Day 11: Thimphu sightseeing

In Thimphu you will visit a variety of places, including the National Memorial Chorten, the National Library, stocked with ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Painting School where traditional art is kept alive. Other highlights include the Traditional Medicine Institute; Lungtenzampa to observe the Royal silver smiths and Bhutanese paper factory at work; the Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body; the Handicrafts Emporium and the shops of Thimphu. Drive to Paro. Hotel stay.

Day 12: Thimphu – Punakha (1310m)

You will drive to Punakha, via Dochula pass to view the higher Himalayan mountains on a clear day. Enroute, you will visit The Royal Botanical park, also known as the Rhododendron Garden at Lamperi, a nature reserve rich in flora and fauna. You will stop again to view Chimi Lhakhang, or "The Temple of Fertility", and Punakha Dzong which served as the seat of the Government. Hotel stay.

Day 13: Punakha – Gangtey (3120m)

You will drive to the beautiful valley of Gangtey. Enroute sightseeing in the valley of Wangdiphodrang includes a visit to Wangdiphodrang Dzong, situated at the confluence of Mo Chu and Tang Chu rivers. You will also visit Gangtey Gompa Monastery from the outside and explore Phobjikha valley, famous for Black Necked Cranes during winter. Hotel stay.

Day 14: Gangtey – Trongsa (2300m) – Bumthang (2800m)

You will drive to Trongsa, visit Trongsa Dzong, the most impressive dzong of Bhutan, and Ta Dzong, an ancient watch tower. Drive to Bumthang. Hotel stay.

Day 15: Bumthang sightseeing

Your sightseeing will include Jakar Dzong or "The Castle of White Bird"; Jambay Lhakhang; Kurjey Lhakhang, named after the body print of Guru Rimpoche; Tamshing Lhakhang or "The Temple of the Good Message"; and Membarstho or "The Burning Lake". Hotel stay.

Day 16: Bumthang – Thimphu (2320m)

Drive to Thimphu. Hotel stay.

Day 17: Thimphu – Paro Airport (2280m)

Drive to the airport and farewell!

Day 18: Delhi – home country
